Summer is the busiest time of year to visit Yosemite, but once you get off the beaten path, you’ll find peace and solitude if that’s your choosing. Your Wawona vacation home will offer you a great place to rest and rejuvenate after your day filled with activities. After dinner, you’ll enjoy sitting on your private deck watching wildlife pass by.
There are so many areas of Yosemite National Park to explore, you’ll want to return often.
- Summer is a good time to pack a picnic lunch, grab the family, and go down to the Merced River. If you’re brave enough, jump on in! Remember……. This is snow water! But on a hot summer day, it’s very refreshing.
- Golfers will enjoy the challenge of a 9-hole golf course right here in Wawona. Or if you prefer something more sedate, you’re welcome to sit out on the lawn of the Wawona Hotel on white Adirondack chairs and watch the golfers pass by.
- Wawona Stables -
Horse lovers will want to visit the Wawona Stables. You can hitch up a horse or mule for a 2 or 4 hour ride. Reservations are required.
- Wawona offers many opportunities for hiking. You can pick up trail maps at the front desk for the swinging bridge, Chilnualna Falls (lower & upper), and the Meadow Loop trails.
- The Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias just 4 miles from The Redwoods. There are free shuttle buses throughout the day to take you from the Wawona Store to the Grove.
| In the evenings (every other Saturday, starting July 4th) you can enjoy an old fashioned barn dance. There is a cozy fire pit outside the barn for everyone to join together and roast marshmallows. |
